In the USA (from an Australian point of view):

- The light switches are upside down
- You drive on the right side of the road
- Sit on the left side of the car
- The toilet is full of water and when you flush it empties
- The toilet and sink drain in the wrong direction
- The cheese is bright orange
- You can't buy vegemite in the stores
- You buy beer at the corner store, including Fosters, Guinness,
Bass, Tsing Tao (Chinese beer), Sapporo and about 20 various
American micro brewery beers.
- Normal cable TV has 75 channels
- Digital cable has about 150 channels and a complete menu
system
- An entree is your maincourse, so you order an Appetizer for
starters and then you have an entree.
- Capucino's are a short black with froth poured on top.
- Japanese cars are expensive and European cars are cheap
- 4WD's are called SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle)
- There are SUV's with 2WD only (whats the point)
- There are SUV's with 8 litre engines
- Most cars have different names
- You can plug some electrical things into power points either
way.
- You can buy wine and beer in the supermarket (grocery
store)
- You can buy Australian wine quite cheaply (Rosemount for $7
USD)
- US wines have improved (Sonoma, near the Napa Valley, Merlot is
not bad for $8 USD a bottle)
- Electrical, Electronic and Computers are CHEAP! SO CHEAP.
- Service has been pretty good, helpful, attentive!
- Petrol is called gas
- Gas is in Gallons
- Car Engines are in Litres
- English muffins are biscuits
- Biscuits are cookies
- Movie stars to TV adds, I mean quite big movie stars.
- Electrical goods are named like Species from Star Trek, our
Kettle is a Cuisinart (pronounced Queezinart)
- You can buy rifles from the sports store
- Two types of power, normally 110volts but major appliances run
on 240volts
- Mobile phones are called cell phones
- To call a "local" number you don't put the prefix on ie the 408
on 408 123 4567 but to call another area code like 650 123 4567 you
have to put the country code on first ie 1 650 123 4567.
